In many organisations, HR takes care of all recruitment and many hiring managers only deal with recruitment when it comes to reviewing CVs and interviewing. HR acting as an intermediate between recruitment consultants and hiring managers.
Is this the best method for you? In a short answer, no. HR is a department that has multitude of responsibilities, with recruitment being one of them. And sometimes other activities take precedence. And sometimes it is best to take on a more direct relationship with your Recruitment Consultant.
But why? Why would you, as a hiring manager, take a more hands on approach?
- Saves you time
- More control
- Better understanding of Candidate Experience
Saves you time
When you and I talk about your recruitment needs, it saves you time. Whether they would be Software Developers, Software Testers or Business Analysts, you can give us a more in depth understanding of what you’re looking for. This cuts down on time wasted on you looking at CVs and makes sure that we get it right the first time. We want you to know that when you get a CV from that you know it will be worth looking at.
If you can give interview feedback to us directly, that will also save you time. We can tell you how the candidate felt after the interview. If this is a candidate you want, you will be in a better position to make an offer if you get our feedback directly. If there are concerns on your part, we can delve further on your behalf with the candidate.
The IT sector changes rapidly. And there may well be times when you need to put a halt on the recruitment process. Or you may suddenly have an urgent need you didn’t have before and you need to relay that to us. You can control how important the process is. And we can allocate the resources accordingly.
Better understanding of Candidate Experience
With candidates becoming increasingly challenging to source, the candidate experience is becoming vital. If the candidate experience is not satisfactory, many candidates would turn it down on that basis. With regular communication with us, we can keep you abreast of how candidates are feeling and any potential concerns they may have. This mitigates the chances of a bad candidate experience and puts you in a strong position if you want to make an offer.
It should be noted that we are more than happy to include HR in all of our dealings with direct hiring manager relationships if desired. We are not looking to circumvent HR all together, we are looking to provide the best service to you and to make it the most efficient as possible.
